Keywords:

The narrative about spice networks in Papua remains limited, particularly focused on Raja Ampat, Southwest Papua, known for its elongated nutmeg. The lack of information regarding spice networks in other areas, especially the highlands like Pegunungan Bintang, calls for further exploration. This paper aims to explore the diversity of spices in Pegunungan Bintang, focusing on local traditions and the daily use of spices by the community. This exploration is intended to enrich the study of the Nusantara spice network, which is often underrepresented in history textbooks, especially concerning maritime topics and the spice trade. The research combines a literature review, interviews with community leaders, and direct observation. The findings will be presented as an illustrated book, which is expected to serve as an alternative medium to explore local Papua spices. Additionally, the book is proposed as a supplemental learning material for Grade X high school students, aligning with the spirit of the Merdeka curriculum, which emphasizes contextual and locally relevant learning.
