Abstract

The Battle of Ambarawa was an important event in the Indonesian Revolution between 20 November and 15 December 1945. Although the battle is often discussed in Indonesian historiography, especially about war strategies and the major figures involved, studies on the role of women are still limited. This study aims to analyze how history teachers in Ambarawa, Salatiga, and Semarang Regency teach the battle, especially regarding the role of women. Data were obtained through interviews with history teachers regarding materials, strategies, media, learning resources, and obstacles faced in teaching. The results of the study show that teaching about the Battle of Ambarawa varies in each school, both in terms of materials, media, and learning resources. Meanwhile, narratives about the role of women in this battle are still minimal, with limited textbooks that focus more on the role of women from outside Java. Obstacles in teaching this topic include limited resources and time, as well as low student interest. Therefore, additional media are needed to enrich more inclusive history learning, especially in teaching the role of women in the Battle of Ambarawa.
